FAQs

Why do you only accept Medicare and not other insurances?

Our goal is to provide the best possible care to help you meet your needs. Unfortunately, many private insurance companies disrupt care by requiring prior authorization, limit visits and visit time, and add other barriers to care. While Medicare has specific criteria for what qualifies for coverage, there are less hurdles to overcome.

How many visits will I need?

After a comprehensive evaluation, your physical therapist will work with you to establish a plan of care with an expected visit frequency. Because you are working one-on-one with your physical therapist, you will likely require less visits than at a traditional physical therapy clinic.

Why choose in-home physical therapy over traditional clinic based physical therapy?

  1. Convenience: In-home therapy eliminates the need for travel, which can be especially beneficial for those with mobility issues or transportation challenges. Patients can receive care in a familiar environment, making the experience less stressful.

  2. Personalized Attention: In-home therapists provide one-on-one sessions without the distractions present in a clinic. This personalized approach allows for tailored programs that address specific needs and goals more effectively.

  3. Real-Life Application: Therapists can assess and address challenges in the patient's daily environment, allowing for functional training that directly relates to their everyday activities. This can lead to more effective rehabilitation and faster progress.

  4. Flexibility in Scheduling: In-home therapy typically offers more flexible scheduling options, allowing patients to receive care at times that fit their routines, further enhancing adherence to therapy.

  5. Comfort and Privacy: Many patients feel more comfortable discussing their concerns and progress in their own homes, leading to better communication and a stronger therapeutic relationship.

  6. Comprehensive Care: In-home physical therapy can include family members in sessions, promoting support and understanding of the patient’s rehabilitation process. This can enhance motivation and compliance with treatment plans.

In summary, in-home physical therapy can provide a more convenient, personalized, and practical approach to rehabilitation compared to traditional outpatient settings.

Starting is easy - no referral or prescription needed.

Direct Access Rules

Medicare rules

Medicare requires a signed plan of care for physical therapy. Your MoveBetter therapist will create a plan of care during your first visit, and the MoveBetter team will work with your doctor to get it approved. You will need a new plan of care established every 90 days or 10 visits whichever is sooner.

Commercial insurance / Self-pay rules

In California, Direct Access rules allow patients to be seen for physical therapy for up to 12 visits with no prescription. After 12 visits or 45 days (whichever is first), the MoveBetter team will work with your doctor to obtain a prescription if more visits or time is needed.
